Born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in metro Atlanta, Jayre Jones moved to DeKalb County with a single mother at the age of five, where he learned the value of hard work in and outside of school.
Jones is an alumnus of Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and he has “developed his spiritual life in Christ.”
“We live in the greatest country on earth; we need to preserve and protect the values and principles that made such a nation possible in the first place.”
Jones scientific work now focuses on treatment for sickle cell anemia.
Here are the issues that are important to Jones:
Tax Reform
“With out of control inflation, costs of living, and gas prices, [I] know all too well the importance of a thriving economy. Tax reform to aid the everyday worker and small business alike is essential to lowering costs of living and ensuring greater control of destiny for Georgia residents,” Jones said.
Jones contends that the Fair Tax Bill will be a fair solution to tax reform.
“Tax Reform is an issue often given lip service but no real action or commitment from the Georgia General Assembly. This is absolutely essential to breaking the power of special interest groups and ensuring that endless exemptions and rule changes are not used by career politicians to reward their friends and punish their enemies. [I] will reintroduce the Fair Tax Bill to move towards a system that enables a greater transparency and far smaller burden to the Georgia taxpayer while enabling greater fiscal benefits to local municipalities,” Jones stated.
Education
""Education is one of the great equalizers, and the Georgia education system is key in promoting innovating and success for the next generation of Georgians. [I] will support our teachers with fair compensation practices and enable parents to ensure their children are being properly educated,” Jones said.
Jones sees inadequate teacher wages and the ratio of teachers to students with regards to classroom overcrowding as two key issues in education.
“Teachers in Georgia are in dire need of fair compensation practices that align with student achievement. In addition to this, the rights of parents to know what their children are being taught and having a say in the curriculum is essential to better education. [I] will also support legislation that addresses the overcrowding of schools by restricting the use of school waivers regarding classroom size. This will help with teacher-student interaction and reduce stress for both.”
Restoring Election Integrity
“For many years our electoral system has been rife with a alack of transparency as well as [an] immense lack of interest in law enforcement to investigative instances of electoral crimes. S.B. 202 addressed some of these issues but unfortunately, there remains an immense amount of resistance from our elected officials and court systems to deal with the rest of the issues. Allowing anything akin to forensic auditing, to ensure your vote has not only been counted but not tampered with or suppressed, is imperative.”
Jones contends that drop-boxes should be eliminated from the electoral process.
“[I] will support legislation that not only requires authorities to investigate election crimes but also prosecute those that commit them. Additionally, the presence of drop-boxes in an election’s cycle should not be codified given the propensity towards illegally-cast ballots that historically comes with them,” Jones said.
Inflation
No matter who you are, everyone is feeling the impact of out of control inflation at the grocery store, gas pump, and everywhere goods and services are purchased. This poor management of fiscal policy has immensely damaged Georgians’ ability to save and provide for their families. [I] will work to implement solutions to reduce these burdens we all are facing.”
Healthcare
As a medical researcher, [I am] all too aware of how government overreach has dramatically reduced the quality of healthcare. Bodily autonomy and patient choice should not be the business of government bureaucrats. [I] will work to restore freedom and trust in medical practices for all Georgians,” he said.
Jones is an advocate for smaller government interference in the healthcare of Peach State citizens.
“The more government regulation and interference in our healthcare occurs the more outrageous the costs become. First it was with HIPPA and then it was even worse with the ironically named 'Affordable Care Act'. Georgians deserves better than this. [I] will propose improved patient choice with medical pricing by requiring hospitals to disclose online rates for common services, such as: X-rays, MRI scans, outpatient visits, child deliveries, lab tests, and other medical procedures. [I] will seek to pass legislation where hospitals and insurance companies alike will need to provide full disclosure of medical costs to patients so they can determine the best course of their affordable care. [I] will also advocate for medical decisions to be made privately between a health professional and a patient or parent while following HIPAA guidelines to ensure the privacy of all medical procedures. Additionally, [I] will stand with all Georgians to ensure medical freedom to include that all Georgians are not discriminated against when pursuing their lives and livelihoods,” Jones said.
Public Safety
Law enforcement is an essential factor of any society not only flourish but to have trust that its laws are respected and its society remains civilized. In recent years the need for reform in law enforcement has become center stage in everyday discussions. [I] will support the legislation required to have our police not only well compensated and equipped but also properly trained so they can restore and maintain trust with the communities they are tasked with protecting,” Jones said in a campaign statement.
